Veneers
Veneers are porcelain coverings for teeth, usually placed on front teeth to alter the shape, size, position, and color to be more aesthetically pleasing. Yellow teeth can be whitened, crooked teeth can be straightened, both quickly and permanently. Because the veneer is made from a solid piece of porcelain, they are both very strong and stable in color. Also, because the veneer is only a facade, often minimal preparation of the teeth is required.
The process of getting veneers requires a series of steps. First of all, a consultation appointment allows Dr. Brazeal to obtain preliminary impressions and discuss the goals of veneer treatment. The preliminary impressions are used for what is called a diagnostic waxup, which is basically a plan for the shape and appearance of the final veneers. After a plan is formulated, the preparation appointment is next. At this appointment, the teeth to be veneered are anesthetized and prepared, and an impression is taken. A shade for the veneers is chosen, and temporary veneers are placed on the teeth that resemble the desired shape of the final veneers. The dental laboratory then fabricates the veneers to match the shape and contour Dr. Brazeal determined. After two weeks for fabrication, the veneers are ready for fitting and cementation, and the smile transformation is complete! |
